Experience The
Transformative Power Of Family Reconstructions
Perhaps the most powerful therapeutic tool created by Virginia Satir is the Family Reconstruction. It is an experiential process where the client recreates a history of their family of origin to re-experience as an adult. The family reconstruction offers the client (known as the “star”) a new perspective into what rules and survival skills they learned as a child and might still be holding as an adult. While some of the skills and rules may remain useful into adulthood, others may not, and the client is able to see new possibilities. The goal of the reconstruction is to empower the client to increase their self-worth and self-esteem and thus the authority to change their life.
Participants Will Leave With:

QUOTE FROM VIRGINIA
“Since great gaps often exist between us and our parents, we thus learn to develop new ways for a more nurturing relationship with our families as well as new feelings about ourselves. In short, family reconstruction brings everyone closer to being people. When what we have learned does not allow us to be free people, in charge of ourselves, then our current lives would probably have many unnecessary pains.”
